Rebels on the podium at Fuji!

Posted by Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

The 10 hours of Fuji became a success with the team finishing on the podium with a 3rd place. David Greco, in his first outing for the team, was the qualifyer and put the car on 2nd place on the grid in the GT class behind the Ghostspeed DBR9 of Richard Hellsten. After a coulple of “less good” first laps Greco managed to get into first place when Hellsten and others hit trouble. He eventually lost the lead to vd Brink and Simracing for Holland in their Corvette CR6.

Greco later handed the car to David Garcia who kept the nice pace of Greco. But Garcia put the car into the wall on one occation, forcing him to pit. He lost some positions but had a great pace after that and managed to keep in touch with the others. Stint three was driven by Mehmet Arslans who pulled out of the pits in 7th and ended the stint in the same place after a little spin. Other then that there were no more drama for him as Ben Buitendijk was going to take over the car.

Ben made a strong stint and gained ground on the cars in front before handing over to Dave Nicol. Dave managed to unlap himself. The leader at the time then suffered a disconnetion which meant that he was up to 3rd in class which he could hold till the end of the stint. Once again Greco was in the car and could take the DBR9 over the finish line to score 3rd place in class and 7th overall.

#77 Torrent Motorsports won overall driving in the LMP class. The team managed 408 laps during the 10 hours. 2 more then the second place finishers in the #7 RSC Motorsports entry. The # 13 of Ghostspeed Racing won the GT class with 371 laps completed ahead of the #53 entry of Simracing for Holland.

Fellow simracing friends Blue Flag Racing made their debut in the series and finished 15th overall, 11th in the GT class, after some problems in the beginning of the race. Well done!

Next race in the SSCA Endurance Series is the mighty 24hrs of Le Mans on november 8th. The team is looking forward to try and repeat the result there. Till then, Cya’!
