Sucess for TBR at the STC race of Hockenheim

By Andreas Löffler on TBR|

On thursday the 3rd round of STC guest at the circuit of Hockenheim. TBR was again up for it – Gregory Degreef and Andreas Löffler lined up on the grid.

Firstly qualifying went different for them. While Greg got P3, only 2 tenth away from pole position Andreas ground in the middle of the field in P11 with 1,2 sec to P1 after 2-3 mistakes in his hotlap.

In a confusing start cause the pacecar wasn´t available this time it developed different for the TBR drivers. Greg lost unfortunatly one place to P4, Andreas in contrary could win places already up to P7. Before the pit stop in the middle of the race it begun to rain a little. Greg was still in P4 in touch to the podium, Andreas drove on P8. But the stop went not good for Greg, so afterwards the TBR drives found them behind each other on P7 and P8. Then the rain got stronger and stronger althought the weatherforecast said much better weather for the afternoon. So the drivers were confused, some pit finally (including Greg and Andreas) for rain tyres but some not. Sure not an easy situation due it had could be also only a short period of full wetness. Luckily for TBR it was the right decision. Only the last few minutes it went dryer again. So they could win again a few place (also cause the bad luck of a FDR driver who blew his engine) and finished finally on P5, Gregory and P6, Andreas. The race won Gubklubben driver Robin Johansson, in front of the Flatout drivers Ben Tusting and Mikko Korkiakoski as well as FDR driver Jesper Taulborg.

full race result

With this great teamresult TBR made a big step forward in the championship, ranking now on P7 of 13 teams with 70 points. Still leading is Flying Dutchman Racing, close in front of Flatout Racing and Gubbklubben.

TBR back in STC :-)

By Andreas Löffler on TBR|

After the longer “vacation-time”  and missing the first round, TBR returned to STC Black Cup 2011 at the circuit of Paul Ricard in France.

Into the race for The Black Rebels went Andreas Hultgren and Gregory Degreef in the new Matech GT 1. A big factor was again the alternating weather. For example Gregory started on “wets” (P4) and Andreas took “dry” tyres, starting from P16.

It slowly begun more and more to rain but the first time the “dry” tyre was the better choice. So from that Greg lost some places but due unneeded incidents also much time. But he stayed out which payed back later on. With more rain several drivers (also including Andreas) pitted or could overtook again from Greg. Before Greg´s stop, he was back in third, but the weather already changed to more dry and he decided for dry´s for second stint. A wise decision cause only for the last few minutes it took over to more rain again. Last moment of shock was a spin from Greg in last turn which luckily don´t cost a place anymore and he finished in a fine 4th place.

On the other hand Andreas got a quite unlucky race. After several pitstop´s (from dry to wet and again to dry) with bad timing according the weather he finished at least in the top 20, on P19.

With this result we find TBR already on P11 in the standings in front of Torrent Motorsport and Water Blue Racing. A big success went to FDR with a double win and the in STC first time winner for FDR Hugo Hekkenberg. FDR also leading in the championchip in front of Gubbklubben and Flatout Racing. Next race will be already next week on the circuit of Hockenheim in Germany, let´s see what TBR is able to do there!

And the title goes to … TBR :-)

By Andreas Löffler on TBR|

The RaceDepartment´s Historic GP season 7 finished on the track of Limerock Mountain. With double length and double given points the championchip was still open between the TBR drivers Andreas Löffler, Ivo Simons, Ryan Callan and the independent driver Dymitro Botnarenko. Only 9 points was seperate them.

Qualy went great for TBR. With Ryan on pole, Andreas on second and Ivo on fourth, TBR stayed in the front 2 rows. But also Dymitro on third keep his chances on third. Then the start, and horror for Ryan. Anything went wrong and he fall down very far away already first straight. With both extra points (pole and fastest race lap) his chances was good to reach at least the podium in standings but after some laps his race was over. Also Dymitro had trouble and went off one corner which cost many time. So also no chances anymore for the needed win for him. So it came up to Ivo and Andreas.

Andreas leaded from the start. But it became a thriller, with championchip leader Ivo only a few seconds behind. To the end of the stint Ivo close up. The tyre wear of Andreas Corvette worked again against him. The two teammates fight 3-4 laps each other without giving presents but in lap 19 Ivo finally climbed the lead. Who thought it´s decided now, was fooled. Andreas immediately jumped into pits for his stop. Added fuel, new tyres and out again he drove his best laptimes. After Ivo stopped two laps later, suddently a gap of almost 15 seconds cut them off. Both drove like hell, Andreas to keep the gap anyhow till finish, Ivo to come nearer. Simultanious it was the fight for the championchip. The gap stayed long quiet constantly and Andreas was the virtual winner of the championchip. But with the last laps Ivo came again more and more nearer every lap. Once again Andreas couldn´t hold his laptimes and with 3 laps finally a spun on his worn tyres gives Ivo without a struggle the lead and championchip.

But the drama going on. Andreas had to spare massive fuel cause a fuel mistake at the pit. With that also 2nd place in championchip was in big danger if Dymitro who fought back in 4th position would catch Andreas. Last lap, two last corners – Andreas had to let pass Ross. Dymitro was directly behind them. Andreas defend in last corner to Dymitro and with almost no fuel he finished in front of Dymitro with lesser then a tenth of a second in third place.

With this result finally Ivo and Andreas claimed the championchip podium in P1 and P2. A big succes for TBR (with winning 5 of the 8 races) to put the champion and runner up. The dream was sure the triple with the unlucky Ryan, who finished with 2 missed races and the dnf in last race only on 6th position in the standings. Which is still great to be in top 10 of over 30 drivers. The good result for TBR was rounded up by David Cuthill on 16th position. With only 1 race 5th TBR of the league Gregory stay on P26 in the standings

For Andreas it´s now the third runner up in a row in RDHGP, at least only he was one time able to beat the Shelby Daytona (7 wins) with his Corvette (1 win). But the big Congratulaions go to Ivo, who drove finally the most constantly season. With two wins (first and last race) a very well deserved champion. Well done Ivo !

By Andreas Löffler on TBR|

The RaceDepartment´s Historic GP finished on the legendary track of Spa. With double length and double given points the championchip was still open between TBR driver Andreas Löffler and BVM Gary Lennon. But Gary needed “only” a 8th place finish.

Qualy went great for TBR. With Greg on pole, Andreas in second and Ryan on third the first three places went to TBR. An incident each other and pitstops let Ryan fall back on P5 and Greg on P10. Andreas took advance of this and won, right in front of Gary – both with a no stopper race.

Löffler sign in to RD ARCA club

By Andreas Löffler on TBR|

After already did some training laps, together with the RD ARCA boys at the Kansas City Speedway last week, Andreas Löffler plans to run the next ARCA events on RaceDepartment. To the question if thats the ending of his roadcourse career (actually in RDCCC, RDTCC and RDHGP) he said “No no, i won´t turn off in any roadracing. It´s more an additional to it. The nascar produce great racing with having all the time a tactical part which i enjoy a lot since i played NASCAR racing 2003 in the past.  So i´m really happy we have such racing on RD and maybe it will be more then club events, who knows”.

New car for the season will be the Dodge Charger #21 in TBR colours, designed by Eric Martel.

RDCCC: Degreef on podium in season opener!

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

The RDCCC, RaceDepartments Camaro Cup Championship, got underway yesterday at Birubi SouthernCross. The forcast was heavy rain and thunderstorms which created a bit of confusion of when the rain was going to come down. Qualifying was dry though and Gregory Degreef clinshed the pole by a very small margin ahead of and Henrik Horvath, Rami Kaukola and Peter Duivelaar. All four seperated by less then 4 tenths! Andreas Löffler started in 5th, Dariusz Swiderski in 10th, Kevin Ledoux 15th and Andreas Hultgren 18th.

Degreef got off to a good start and was leading a huge group initially before he and Kaukola got a gap on the following drivers. When the first stop was getting closer the rain was still not there and all drivers opted for slicks once again. Degreef lost the lead though to Kaukola during the stop and was then fighting hard with Duivelaar. Löffler had managed to get up to 4th during this period of the race. The rain came just before the second stop and it was heavy, just as expected. Kaukola spun out of the lead and gave the win to his teammate Duivelaar. Degreef also got the better of the Finn and finished in a great 2nd place. Löffler finished right off the podium in a fine 4th.

Ledoux was having ups and down throughout the race but when the rain came he exelled and got up to 10th while the others had problems staying on the slippery track. Hultgren finished 13th in the end after two good stops where he gained positions. Swiderski started off good but had an oposit race to what Ledoux had and had huge problems in the early part of the rain chaos. He managed to finish 13th though despite 4 pit stops.

ADR: Löffler claims first championship triumph!

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

Andreas Löffler has become ADR WTCC Champion after a very solid effort in the last round of the league. The last 2 races were held at Barcelona. Löffler got beaten to the pole by teammate Ivo Simons in his Honda. This was Simons first round since Istanbul but despite that he had been the force to beat during practice aswell as qualifying. Löffler however used the BMW’s rear drive advantage at the start and took the lead, a lead that he would keep to the line with Simons trailing him closely all the way. Andreas Hultgren made it a TBR 1-2-3 after starting 5th. But after a rocket start he was up to 3rd and fended off one of Löfflers biggest title rivals Tobias Tannreuther. Gregory Degreef was in for a tough round though as he was carrying 50kg of success ballast. He finished down in 10th after a difficult race.

The Rebels aimed to repeat the feat in race 2 and it looked good right from the get go. Despite starting from 8th Löffler was soon up fightingt for the lead but got hit and spun by Torsten Gerlach. He got up to speed fast though and was on his way up the feild again untill he received another hit, this time by Tannreuther. Despite this he managed to finish 4th, again infront of his main rivals and the championship was his to celebrate. Up front it looked as if Hultgren had secured a second win of the season. He was up fighting with Andreas Krupp and Tannreuther for the lead before the pitsops. Hultgren went in first (together with Tannreuther) and when Krupp pitted the lap after Hultgren was in the lead and started to slowly pull away. At best he had over 3 seconds to Krupp but he shot his tyres in the process and eventually he was cought up. In the meanwhile Simons had cought up with this group and in just a couple of laps he was then in the lead, a lead he never lost as he took his first and only win of the season. Krupp also got passed Hultgren who finished 3rd yet again. Degreef had another tough race and finished 8th.

Final drivers standings:
1. Andreas Löffler 236p
2. Tobias Tannreuther 219p
3. Frank Schroeter 209p
4. Jörg Klein 181p
5. Andreas Krupp 177p
6. Gregory Degreef 172p
7. Andreas Hultgren 171p

13. Ivo Simons 81p

21. Xosé Estrada 14p

Final team standings:
1. TBR Belnedmany 443p
2. RB Kiteforce 373p
3. Smoking Boys 341p

6. TBR Ruta Destroy 185p
