WTM Round 1 and 2

By Mikael Hellen on TBR|

The WTM (Racedepartments World Touring Masters) league completed 2 rounds so far and started better than expected for TBR.
The league started at Virginias full course known to all that tried iRacing and proved to be a hand full to handle in the touring cars from the 80′s with many victims at the rollercoaster back straight with it’s hard barriers along the sides.
Ben Crooks took home the point for pole in qualy with Jack Keithley in 2nd and our own Gregory Degreef in 3rd,rest of TBR was Mikael Hellén in 6th,Ivo Simons in 11th,David Cuthill in 14th and Kevin Ledoux in 17th.
When the greenlight went on all 36 cars headed for T1 with Greg loosing some positions and Mikael won a few spots but Greg soon found his pace and could work his way up the field.
Ben C and Jack K headed off with some amazing pace in the first few laps but it became obvious after around half of the race distance that they both made a bad choice with the soft tyres.
Greg was soon in the lead when the front runners lost their advantage with the softs and also Mikael could pass Jack at the final 5 laps.
Ivo had an eventful race with alot of fighting for positions throughout the race.
Final result saw Greg on top of podium with Ben C in 2nd and Mikael in 3rd,Ivo 13th and David in 16th.Kevin DNF 12 laps behind.

2nd round we all headed to Mid Ohio with the chicane, qualify was again a good day for TBR with Mikael putting the Volvo on pole this time and Gregory who had a connection drop almost missing the qualy session and joined just in time to finish 1 single hotlap in 3rd with Ben C again on 2nd gridposition.
Rest of TBR qualify results:Ben Buitendijk in his 1st apperance with the Alfa 75 in 12th,Ivo Simons 15th,David Cuthill 18th and Kevin Ledoux in 21st.
This time start was the opposite vs round 1 with Mikael making a bad start and Greg a good one,Ben C could take the lead into T1 and Greg was bumper to bumper with Mikael.A few laps into the race Greg could pass for 2nd position with some paint rubbing and start the chase for the lead.Ben B also made a good start and was soon fighting for 4th position.Around 10 laps into the race Greg could pass Ben Crooks with a nice manouver on the outside in the righthander after the backstraight putting him in 1st.
Mikael then launched attack after attack on a hard defending Ben Crooks but never got through.
Ben B fought hard with alot of changes in the positions.
Final result once again saw Greg on top and Ben C in 2nd with Mikael rounding off the podium.
Ben Buitendijk finished in a great 5th place in his first race,Ivo Simons in 13th,David Cuthill in 19th and Kevin Ledoux in 25th.
Overall a great start of the league with TBR eyes and Greg in a great position to take yet another league title.

STC: Spa a race to forget

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

Andreas Löffler and Wietse Visser were the two drivers to defend the TBR colors when Simracing Team Challenge headed to Spa. As usuall in Spa the weather is not to be trust and the race started of in rainy conditions.

Wietse started at the back after a miserable qualifying. Then he misjudged the weather for the race and had to pit on the opening lap to put on wet weather tyres. He never got back after that and finished down in 20th.

Andreas had a better race but by Löffler standard it wasn’t what he nor the team had wanted. It all started good though and he was inside top 10 for the first half but then everything went downhill. After running off track a few times he decided to pit for a second time but there were no improvments and in the end he finished in 13th.

The taem is still third in the standings but DMSv2 got a lot closer as they had a good team result with 4th and 8th. Only 11 points seperates the two teams. DMSv1 is still in the lead and is near its first STC title.
