Great results in RDSTL’s 4th round

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

The team had some great results in RD’s Super Touring League as they headed to Estoril and the 4th round.

Division 1:
Both Andreas Löffler and Mikael Hellén had a great day in the top division as they came over the line in 3rd and 6th. Hellén had a pretty straight forward race while Löffler had more to think about as he was fighting hard for the podium spot. Mehmet Arslan and Ivo Simons raced the other two Beemers in the top group and their results were mixed. Arslan made a mistake in the pits that ended his race. Simons had his first outing in the car and he finished 11th after having some engine issues which resulted in him having to take it a bit easy near the end.

Division 2:
Of course there were Division 2 action aswell and David García had a good race as he took advantage of his pit strategy. He finished in a fine 5th. Clive Siggs made his racing return with the team as he substituted for Xosé Estrada. Siggs made a mess of the superpole but raced a steady race and brought his SEAT home in 8th.

Bad luck at Rouen-Les Essarts

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

It all looked so good but got turned around quickly as the team looked to conintue it’s success from the previous round at Le Mans. The Simracing Team Challenge headed to Rouen Les-Essarts for the fith round of the Black Cup and Gregory Degreef and Mehmet Arlsan were behind the teams Ferraris.

Degreef qualifyed in a fine 7th and soon found him self in 4th after some accidents infront of him. He stayed in 4th the first 35 minutes untill he made a mistake that made him lose his front splitter. At the time it didn’t look as though he’d lose much time as he was inside the pit window. He pitted the same lap but from here everything went wrong. The car did not get fixed which resulted in another pitstop the lap after. Then while lapping a car there were some misunderstandings while the lapped car was going into the pits. Degreef hit the car as he was making his passing move and unfortunatly the hit was too severe to be able to continue the race.

Arslan had a tough race aswell. He started down in 16th and it was far from a Sunday drive for him. After getting a puncture he was going into the pits but came in a bit to fast and hit the pitwall. He was then partly stationary on the track and got hit by one of the other drivers. Despite all his problems, driving most part of the race without a front splitter, he still manage to finish the race and he did so in 13th.

Finally some success in STC

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

The team finally had some success in the Simracing Team Challege. STC headed to the previously postponed Le Mans for the teams homerace and also the first dry race of the season.

Andreas Löffler and Gregory Degreef was driving the TBR Ferarri F430 and during the trainings the drivers were far up the grid. But come qualifying things started to go wrong. Löffler got black flaged during his attemp and had to start at the rear end of the grid and Degreef started 11th.

Löffler made a great first one and a half lap and got passed 1/3 of the drivers and from there on he was behind his team mate and a great teamwork started with bumpdrafting along the long Mulsanne straight. There were some small incident on the way, one nearly taken each other out, but in the end Löffler managed to clinch a season best 5th for the team. Degreef, who only changed a puctured tyre during his pitstop managed 11th in the end just .2 of a second behnid the driver infront.

All in all a very good race for the team who is still in 8th but now on the same points as FlatOut Racing, 113.

Yet again outside top 10 in STC

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

Yet again the teams drivers struggled to get inside top 10 as the Simracing Team Challenge stopped at a wet Suzuka for the third race of the season.

Ivo Simons and Andreas Hultgren were the drivers for the event and the rainy conditions made it difficult for them in their Ferraris. Simons qualifyed down in 18th with Hultgren right behind him and they knew right away their pace wasn’t enough to challenge faster guys.

The race started off in damp conditions but soon it started to rain. Both drivers were on slicks and though, at one points, laptimes were over 12 second from their dry times neither went in for an unschedule stop. Then it started to dry again and the times went down and Hultgren were the first to pit at the halfway mark. He put on slicks but it soon started to rain again and to gamble a little Simons put on wet tyres the lap after. It was clear that one would benefit in the long run but not who.

After 15 or so minutes the rain stopped again and this time it was for good and the sun came out drying the track quickly. Simons had to pit again while Hultgren could drive to the line. In the end it was clear that more drivers went for wets as Hultgren managed to climb his way up to 13th while Simons finished 18th. The upside of the result is that once again both cars made it to the finish line but both drivers were a bit disapointed about the end result.

The team is now in 8th place overall and 8 points behind FlatOut Racing who is the closest team infront.

RDSTL – Round 3 Oschersleben

By Andreas Hultgren on TBR|

RaceDepartments Super Touring League visited Germany for the 150 kilometre race at Oschersleben last Saturday and TBR had a good day.

Division 1:
Andreas Löffler qualifyed his BMW in 7th and was breifly up into 5th in the beginning of the race. But a spin resulted in a visit to the gravel and he re-joined in in 12th before pitting in. But with a solid drive after the stop coupled with a bit up luck he managed to climb back into 8th at the end. His teammate Mikael Hellén had a rough day though as he qualied down in 12th. After the pitsops were completed he found him self in 9th but later spun and lost a few positions again. Then with a few laps to go there was some comfusion whlie being lapped where he lost a place aswell and he finished very dissapointed in 13th.

The second team in the first division only had one driver. Gregory Degreef made his first league race in the TBR colors as he substituted for Ben Buitendijk who couldn’t race. And what a debute he made. He qualifyed in a fine 2nd and after a great race he found him self on the podium with a bronz medal around his neck. Mehmet Arslan who usually drives the second car could not race this weekend.

Division 2:
A racy David García in his SEAT qualifyed down in 12th but during the race he showed he had much more to give then his starting position showed. But the start wasn’t easy for him as the cars just infront off him spun during the warm-up lap but during the first 5 laps he went from 19th to 9th. After passing guys to the right and left and pitting he crossed the line in a superb 5th. Xosé Estrada in the second SEAT could unfortunatly not race this event.
