The Rebels had a tough race in the Simracing Team Challenge opener at Silverstone. Andreas Hultgren and Vicent García was set to defend the TBR colors but the end result was not what the team had hoped for.
The conditions were tricky with a damp track in both qualifying and race. Hultgren went for dry tyres in both and started in 15th but after the warm-up was done he knew he was going to be in for a really hard race. The entire first stint was all about defending and he did so very well and made his pitstop halfway through. He then came out in 13th and was set for that place until the last 15 mins when his tyres wore out and Ryan Mortimer (DHR Fanatec) cought up. Then on the penultimate lap Marcin Skrzypczak (RPM) cought both to lap them but hit Mortimer who then hit Hultgren so that he lost his rearwing and ended up 16th and last running car.
García had an even tougher race as he qualifyed at the back of the grid after suffering in the tricky conditions. This continued in the race and he never really got in to it and to suffer even more he ran out of fuel at the very end being classified 17th. Won the race did DHR GPs’s Vincent Staal in a dominant fashion.
Of course it could have been worse as it was for FlaOuts both teams, BFR and AnE who all went home without a single point. The Rebels are 9th in the standings, 15 points behind leaders Black Visor Motorsport (46p).
Next up is the mighty Green Hell on September 17th.
